Professional Reporting and Human-Centered Storytelling
IMG_9565.JPG
Thanks for being here! I'm Ryley, a journalist whose eclectic mix of work spans topics from food history to wildlife law. Having earned degrees in journalism and economics from the George Washington University, I am well versed in the rigorous fact-checking and research standards that make a top-tier story. Growing up in a close-knit community in Minnesota, I've long understood the power of human tales, and try to bring a strong character driven narrative to the heart of my work.

I've worked for four years as an elementary school teacher and freelance journalist in Hanoi, Vietnam. Having the privilege of being based in Asia and traveling from Laos to Mongolia, I've become only more fervent in my conviction that thoughtful storytelling binds us all closer together through admiration of both our shared and unique experiences.

My work, which you can find here, includes everything from features in National Geographic to college projects that I remain proud of. I hope it's demonstrative of my passion for the art of journalism and my eagerness to sink my teeth into any inspiring project I come accross.
